Business Licensing: Making it Work for You

Thank you for your interest in the City’s Business Licence Bylaw Renewal project.  We would like to provide you with an update on the work that has been done so far and upcoming opportunities to provide feedback on proposed changes to the bylaw.

What has been done so far?

In the fall of 2018, the City completed a review of business licensing in 10 Canadian municipalities.  Through this review we identified a number of promising practices to consider for Edmonton’s business licensing program.  

In November and December, the City met with internal partners from planning, municipal enforcement, safety codes, fire prevention, and police.  Partners were asked to provide input on early recommendations for a new Business Licence Bylaw.
